obesity |
Obesity is a condition where a person has accumulated so much body fat that it might have a negative effect on their health.
Health
Risks ;-

is a term that means you weigh at least 20% more than what is considered a
normal weight for your height. It makes you more likely to have conditions

Heart
Disease and Stroke
Extra
weight makes you more likely to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Both of those conditions make heart disease or stroke more likely.

Type
2 Diabetes
Most
people who have type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese. You can cut your risk
of developing type 2 diabetes by losing weight, eating a balanced diet, getting
adequate sleep, and exercising more.
If
you have type 2 diabetes, losing weight and becoming more physically active can
help control your blood sugar levels. Becoming more active may also reduce your
need for diabetes medication.
Cancer

Gallbladder
Disease
Gallbladder
disease and gallstones are more common if you are overweight.
Ironically,
weight loss itself, particularly rapid weight loss or loss of a large amount of
weight, can make you more likely to get gallstones. Losing weight at a rate of
about 1 pound a week is less likely to cause gallstones.
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis
is a common joint condition that most often affects the knee, hip, or back.
Carrying extra pounds places extra pressure on these joints and wears away the
cartilage (tissue cushioning the joints) that normally protects them.
Weight
loss can ease stress on the knees, hips, and lower back and may improve the
symptoms of osteoarthritis.
Gout
is a disease that affects the joints. It happens when you have too much uric
acid in your blood. The extra uric acid can form crystals that deposit in the
joints.
Gout
is more common in overweight people. The more you weigh, the more likely you
are to get gout.
Over
the short term, sudden weight changes may lead to a flare-up of gout. If you
have a history of gout, check with your doctor for the best way to lose weight.
Sleep
Apnea
Sleep
apnea is a breathing condition that's linked to being overweight.

VITAMIN A |
DISCOVERY:-
In 1912, an English biochemist called Frederick Gowland Hopkins found unknown factors present in milk that were not fats, proteins or carbohydrates, but Hopkins was later awarded the Nobel Prize (in 1929) for this discovery. In 1917, Elmer McCollum from the University of Wisconsin–Madison along with Lafayette Mendel and Thomas Burr Osborne from Yale University discovered one of these substances while researching the role of dietary fats. In 1918, these “accessory factors” were described as fat soluble and in 1920, they were referred to as vitamin A.
HISTORY:-
VitaminA is a group of unsaturated nutritional organic compounds that includes retinol, retinal, retinoic acid, and several provitamin A carotenoids (most notably beta-carotene)
USES:-

1.Vitamin A is used for treating vitamin A deficiency. It is also used to reduce complications of diseases such as malaria, HIV, measles, and diarrhea in children with vitamin A deficiency.
2.Women use vitamin A for heavy menstrual periods,

3.Men use vitamin A to raise their sperm count.

4.Some people use vitamin A for improving vision and treating eye disorders including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, and cataracts.
5.Vitamin A is also used for skin conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, cold sores, wounds, burns, sunburn, keratosis follicularis (Darier’s disease), ichthyosis(noninflammatory skin scaling), lichen planus pigmentosus, and pityriasis rubra pilaris.

6.It is also used for gastrointestinal ulcers, Crohn’s disease, gum disease, diabetes, Hurler syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis), sinus infections, hayfever, and urinary tract infections (UTIs).
7.Vitamin A is also used for shigellosis, diseases of the nervous system, nose infections, loss of sense of smell, asthma, persistent headaches, kidney stones, overactive thyroid, iron-poor blood (anemia), deafness, ringing in the ears, and precancerous mouth sores (leukoplakia).
8.Other uses include preventing and treating cancer, protecting the heart and cardiovascular system, slowing the aging process, and boosting the immune system.

VITAMIN;-
The name is from vital and amine, meaning amine of life, because it was suggested in 1912 that the organic micronutrient food factors that prevent beriberi and perhaps other similar dietary-deficiency diseases might be chemical amines
A vitamin is an organic compound and an essential nutrient that an organism requires in limited amounts. An organic chemical compound (or related set of compounds) is called a vitamin.
History/Discovery;-
In 1747, the Scottish surgeon James Linddiscovered that citrus foods helped prevent scurvy, a particularly deadly disease in which collagen is not properly formed, causing poor wound healing, bleeding of the gums, severe pain.
During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the use of deprivation studies allowed scientists to isolate and identify a number of vitamins.
In 1881, Russian surgeon Nikolai Lunin studied the effects of scurvy at the University of Tartu in present-day Estonia. He fed mice an artificial mixture of all the separate constituents of milk known at that time, namely the proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and salts.
In 1910, the first vitamin complex was isolated by Japanese scientist Umetaro Suzuki, who succeeded in extracting a water-soluble complex of micronutrients from rice bran and named it aberic acid (later Orizanin). He published this discovery in a Japanese scientific journal.
